I live in Valencia.
Valencia is on the coast.
The coast has a lovely east facing beach.
The beach witnesses the sunrise every morning.....
Mornings.
We used to be such great friends, I was up at 6am every day...but since coming to Spain I've turned into a somewhat nocturnal creature. However, after witnessing glimpses of the sunrise last weekend at the Sanitas Marca 10km, I decided I needed to devote some much needed sleep time to watching this beautiful event instead (it happens at 8am now, but in a few months it will be like 3am...ew)
When I wake up in the morning, my first thought is usually breakfast, so it only seemed logical to make ourselves a picnic to take to the beach and munch away whilst enjoying nature. After a brisk walk down to the beach, we arrived perfectly on time to welcome the start of another day....

For the picnic we had done a cute sister thing. Both of us had €5, we both went to the same patisserie, Ells did savoury, I did sweet. We kept our purchases a total surprise from each other. And this way we maintained an element of surprise. I'd recommend it, to make meal times that bit more fun!
We had some meat, veg, tuna mini pastries. The big pastry had pizza filling- tomato sauce and grated cheese, which worked surprisingly well!
The sweet section comprised a caramel muffin, apple tart, strawberry roll and creme patissiere finger!
It was a lovely start to the day, and a perfect way to enjoy the last morning of Ells' visit. I love spending time with my family and I think it's important to make that extra bit of effort to make them feel special. What do you do with your loved ones? How have you gone the extra mile for someone else recently ?

Woooowwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeee!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are absolutely breath-taking-ly stunning!
Like seriously?
I love all these photos, they manage to capture the magical ambience of the start of the day, when anything is possible. It was such a perfect picnic, thank you for your creative ideas which make life so special.
These pictures are so precious, love you to the sun and back E xxx
Aw thanks sweetie :)
DeleteIt's all thanks to my awesome new camera, it makes taking good photos so much easier. I still have a lot more to learn though, maybe I'll have a leaf through the manual today...
You're very welcome, I had such a great time at the picnic too, even if it all got a bit sandy!

I didn't know lobsters would eat muffins?! Great idea to wake up early and see the sun rise, although poor Els bad no idea that she would be up for the best part of 24 hours when her flight was diverted to Luton, ha ha...... Who are you entertaining next, you better be careful you are raising the expected standards for Che Ibbs, tours and buffets are getting more elaborate. The quality of the pics are getting much better as well...... Big Hug R xxx

DeleteYes, I hear lobsters are quite partial to all sorts of baked goods, though they aren't too skilful at the preparation/cooking side of things! Too many legs/claws!
I'm impressed Ells managed to hold it all together, she must have been dog tired by the time you both got home!
No idea bout next guest, anyone is welcome :)
