Last weekend it was the 21st birthday of my amazing ginger ninja soulmate Shona. Both of us are out here in Spain studying, and her whole family and best friends from back home flew out for the weekend to surprise her.... Needless to say what followed was an awesome weekend full of laughs, love and happiness, so let the good times roll :)
Friday night was a kid themed birthday party; hence the abundance of bunches and cute little dresses :) We were treated to some great games, reminiscent of the heady days of childhood including 'pin the tail on the donkey', 'pass the parcel' and of course a piñata, all accompanied with lethal jelly shots!
Saturday - tourist time in Valencia. We ventured to our favourite haunt for lunch, none other than Cafe Valor...here, here and here for previous visits! What can I say?! The chocolate really is heavenly, and as it's so pure, I can feast away my dairy-free indulgence. It was so so lovely for Shona to be surrounded by so many of her nearest and dearest for the day, such a charming and relaxing way to spend such a memorable birthday.
The exercise machines in the Jardin Turia proved a huge hit and showed that you're never too old to be a kid!
Saturday dinner- spent at the fabulous Portland Ale House, a firm favourite of mine for eating out in Valencia. Top quality American food in epic portions with wonderful staff :) You really need to check this place out!
Sunday was a lazy start after a heavy night before. Being British it was only fitting that we headed off to the beach, very inappropriately dressed for the weather! In mid January, beach babes in bikinis braved the baltic blue! Even the sand felt cold underfoot! Surprise, surprise, we were the only people in the water, which proved pleasantly refreshing-even if only for a short while!!
So, a huge thank you to family P and Georgie, Chaz and Becky for helping make Shona's birthday weekend so special. I had such a great time relaxing and enjoying life with you. And of course, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Shona :)x x x
